Projects

Grace was so blessed and had many opportunities that helped her develop into a beautiful independent person. From the moment she was born, Grace was looked at as being a gift to her family. She took part in a county program called Birth to 3 (for Grace more like Birth to 5 as she was behind in development.) At age 3, her family started her in horseback riding lessons – called Hippotherapy – and from there, she blossomed. These therapies helped develop her speech, assisted with physical and motor development, and had many other benefits. The moment Grace turned two and could walk Grace was in tumbling and dance classes where she participated in tap, ballet, and her favorite, as she grew older: hip-hop thanks to a wonderful instructor, Mr. Rhody, who saw her potential. Her family used Baby Signs and some ASL signs to teach her sign language until her speech developed. Unlike some beliefs, this didn’t hinder her talking but opened up her communication opportunities and as Grace described herself, “now was quite the jabber box”. She utilized her physical and occupational therapies and speech therapies. Most importantly, Grace’s family allowed her to develop, have many experiences, and encouraged her to live life with no limits as to what she could do.
